Recertified Hygienically Clean Medical Rental
HandCraft is very proud to announce that, over the summer, two of our plants were re-certified as Hygienically Clean laundry facilities!
Here’s an excerpt of the confirmation letter we received from Hygienically Clean/TRSA about our renewal:
“The recertification reflects [HandCraft’s] continued commitment to best management practices (BMPs) in laundering as verified by on-site inspection and their capability to produce hygienically clean textiles as quantified by ongoing microbial testing.”
What Does a Hygienically Clean (Re)certification Say About HandCraft?
The Hygienically Clean certification consists of an independent, third-party verifying body whose goal is to check and validate the soundness, safety, compliance, and, most importantly, hygienic quality of a laundry facility.
Every three years, Hygienically Clean certifications expire and the TRSA, which oversees and carries out the certifications, conducts another round of verification procedures to renew or reject a candidate’s Hygienically Clean badge.
The Hygienically Clean test and certification cover multiple categories and areas of concern in commercial laundry services, including:
- Microbial testing. A three-round process that tests sample processed linens from the laundry service facility to test for the presence of pathogens like yeast, mold, and disease-causing bacteria
- Consistency in results. Hygienically Clean certifications also test for a laundry operators’ capacity to maintain results even through varying factors like fabric type, water quality, etc.
- Facility inspection. A huge part of Hygienically Clean standards is the soundness of the facility and its processes and employee competence in maintaining a truly safe environment for your linen processes and achieving the best, most hygienic results for the items that they process.
- Compliance. Hygienically Clean standards also look into a facility’s compliance with federal regulations on the care and maintenance of reusable linens, including the guidelines set by the OSHA, CDC, and other agencies.
It’s a long, arduous, and scientific process that includes more than just checking boxes. When you see the Hygienically Clean badge, you can rest assured that your items are processed in a truly sanitary, safe facility, by highly trained experts, and have been tested and proven to contain no dangerous pathogens.
